Who we are

Our goal

Establish a new syndicate for yacht ownership based in the Solent. Boat choice to be agreed by all syndicate members but probably around 36-37 foot, similar to those pictured on this website!

We're looking for other syndicate members interested in 1/8 or 1/4 shares with a budget contribution per 1/8 share of around £12-15k which should let us buy something decent (probably 2-3 years old). Running costs will be split pro-rata between all shareholders and due to an excellent marina deal already secured (see below) should be considerably favourable.

Note that this is a non-commercial venture. We are not seeking to make any money from the syndicate, simply to find like-minded co-sailors with similar interests and sailing goals.

Hi, we're Martin and Kevin and have been part of a very successful syndicate for over 12 years based on a Bavaria 34. We've sailed over 10,000 miles during that time, mainly in and around the Solent but also further afield incuding the Channel, French Coast and English Coast from London to the Scilly Isles.

We're now looking to facilitate the set-up of a new syndicate based on something larger and faster and are seeking other new founder members who share our sailing ambitions.

SOME PRACTICAL STUFF

In our experience, a successful syndicate requires a strong sense of collaboration and most importantly, sharing a common interest with similar sailing objectives. So, herewith our "wish list" to get the ball rolling:

Sailing Area

The Solent (obviously!) but a key thing for us is to explore new sailing grounds once or twice a year. To that end we would be looking for all members to work together to sail the boat back-to-back to explore further afield, possibly even establishing a remote temporary mooring during the peak season e.g. Channel Islands, France, Ireland etc.

Choice of Boat

To be agreed by all founder members. Our only requirements are that it must have at least 3 cabins (one of us could snore for England!) preferably a "proper" chart table and decent navigation aids in the cockpit (chartplotter). Oh, and it must have a max l.o.a. of 37 feet to fit on the mooring.

Maintenance

We want to spend most of our time sailing, not with a box of spanners! So apart from simple stuff that can be achieved by all members with limited technical ability, we envisage engaging professionals to carry out maintenance as, of course, budget will allow. Speaking of which, we anticipate the on-going monthly cost including mooring to be in the region of £75-100/month per 1/8 share.

MOORING LOCATION

We have access to a residential mooring at the excellent Port Solent marina in Portsmouth which will cost the syndicate a fraction of the normal commercial rate. There is 24/7 secure gated access to the mooring and the Port Solent lock allows entry/exit to the marina at all states of tide.

Facilities at the marina are second to none with very high quality shower blocks, laundry and a wide range of bars and restaurants.
